CityCenter project on hold as banks stall

constructionsCity Center is MGM's megcasino development currently under construction in Las Vegas. Last year, DubaiWorld joined the project and became part owner in the $5 billion deal.

 

DubaiWorld owns several banks and was seen as a reliable backer for this huge project.

Call to clarify ‘vague’ UIGEA

keyFour congressmen who voted in favour of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act back in 2006 have sent an open later to the Federal Reserve Board and the US Treasury asking for clarification of the act.

 

The four Republican congressmen - Judy Biggert, Jim Gerlach, Christopher Shays and Kevin McCarthy - state that they still agree with the act, but that it is problematic due to its vague nature which makes it unworkable.

US Stalling in Antigua Gambling Trade Negotiations

The tiny nation of Antigua has waited this long, and it seems they will have to wait a little longer.

 

They have been in dispute with the US for several years now, claiming that by imposing the online gambling ban with the UIGEA, they significantly harmed Antigua's economy.

 

They won a surprise victory over the US when the World Trade Organisation sided with the island nation in their case.

Harrah's Entertainment has announced the long-awaited schedule for the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), to be held September 19th to October 2nd, 2008 in London, England.

 

This will be the second outing for the WSOPE and this year, the series has been slightly expanded since the inaugural 2007 version.

2007 World Series of Poker Smashes Attendance Records!

WSOPAs the World Series of Poker entered it second week, it showed no signs of slowing down. June 8 saw the largest number of poker players ever to enter a single day of events at the WSOP.

 

WSOP Communications Director Nolan Dalla reported that two tournaments combined for a record 3,009 entries.

The $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em event attracted 2,628 entries.
