Online gaming software company has reported significant revenue growth in the later part of 2008 despite the economic crisis that has crippled much of the world’s financial markets.
The report published by Playtech shows strong growth for the fourth quarter of 2008.
Revenue for this quarter was up 52% on the previous year to a total of €31.5 million. The quarter showed growth in both the poker and casino parts of the business. Additionally, the region that has showed the strongest growth is that of the Asia Pacific with revenues increasing by 141%. This accounts for 28% of Playtech’s total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2008.
Despite the strong growth of the Asia Pacific region, Europe is still the major source of income for Playtech, accounting for 66% of total revenues. Playtech has further expanded on its European presence with it’s entry into the Italian poker market.
Additionally Playtech has launched a strategic move through its joint venture, William Hill Online. Playtech has a 29% share in the newly formed company following a $250 million investment. Playtech will provide gaming software for the new joint venture.
