Free card on the turn This is a powerful tip on how to play drawing hands on the flop when having good position. Say you are playing limit Hold’em and flopped a nut flush draw, now assume you are on the button and so there are no other players acting behind you.
There was a bet and a call on the flop and now its on you, normally you would call here to see if you can hit the flush on the turn and take it from there.
This is usually a correct play but rather then calling consider a raise at this point.
Now the players acting before you will fear your raise and most likely will check the turn to you.
You now have the option to bet for value if you hit the flush or check and see a “free” card, this move has two main advantages
a. If you were to call all the way to the river to see if the flush hits it would have cost you one more bet.
b. Players will not put you on a flush because you raise the flop, this might give you more action from the other players who might even try to bluff you if the flush card hits..

very usefull tactics. against passive players it work very good. but if bettor is very agressive its better to call - he may reraise and you left heads-up with him. You make little money and loose more if flush don't come.
I also use this tactics for cheap showdown against calling stations if I hit middle pair or have very bad kicker. raise flop, check turn (or bet if improve to two pairs) and check/call/bet river, or even fold if the board is very scary.
this tactic works best heads up. it is my absolute favorite thing to do heads up. having said that, if your good enough to pick ur spot, it can be very good in rull ring.
